I'm so bad at updating these days.
Baby front first
At the end of January, I went in for my fun pregnancy blood work. 5 pokes later, they finally got a vein to cooperate and filled the vials they needed. My veins are small and like to blow out, even with a butterfly needle.
We had our first midwife appointment on Feb. 1st (10 weeks). Everything was good. We saw our favorite midwife from last time around. She couldn't find the baby's heartbeat with the doppler, so she wheeled in some ultrasound equipment, and we got to see our baby moving its arms and legs around. It had a very strong heartbeat on the monitor. Apparently, I have a tilted uterus, which makes it difficult to find the heartbeat. I told her I was still feeling sick, but figured the 24/7 nausea would go away around 12 weeks like it did with Alexander.
At around 12.5 weeks, I tried to go a day without my zofran since I felt like it wasn't helping anymore. That was a BAD BAD idea. It was the worst I'd felt in a long time. Apparently my zofran is doing more than I thought it was.
I'm now 14 weeks 1 day today, and still sick as sick can be. Afternoons/evenings are the worst for me, and my heartburn in the evenings has kicked in already. I have my next appointment with my favorite midwife in 2 days, and I'll be asking her for a med change of some sort. After the appointment, I will be scheduling my big ultrasound for sometime between March 29th and April 12th. I can't wait! I hope this little one is cooperative like its big brother, so that we'll know what we're having.
I've had a number of people tell me in the last week that they think I'm having a girl. I know a lot of the old wives tales point to me having a girl, and the chinese gender chart which said Alexander would be a boy says this one is a girl. Our first priority is a healthy baby. If we have a girl, our family would definitely be complete. I'd love a little boy too, and it would be fun for Alexander to grow up with a little brother. If this is a boy, our family may or may not be complete. Only time will tell...
Now, onto my little man
Alexander is so much fun these days. He's learning new things every day, and is always amazing us with the things he knows and can do.
He loves to sing "The Wheels on the Bus" (he does the "round and round, round and round, round and round" or whatever verse it is and the "all through...town"). He likes to ask for everyone whose name he knows (Mmm...Gama, Papa, Ka-la, Dave, Wayne, Sessa, Becca, Livi, Rody, Al-as, Matt, Heidi, Mace, and all the daycare kids). If daddy or I leave the room, he cutely yells "Daddy!" or "Momma!" to which we respond "Alexander!" He thinks that is fun.
He has learned to do somersaults in his crib. He loves to play outside these days, so mommy and daddy are trying to find more outdoor toys for him to keep entertained. He also loves talking on the phone, especially with his Grandmas.
Alexander can now count to 10, and he mostly says phrases instead of one word statements now. He's growing so quickly, and I can't wait to see what a great big brother he'll be!
