Gah, I'm so far behind on LJ'ing that I've forgotten what RL stuff I wanted to post about. I'm hoping that the real start of the fall season will get me back in a regular posting mode.
So, this one's all about music & TV. Sephora & makeup will be in another post, probably tomorrow.
First, U2 and Green Day are playing a pre-game concert for the re-opening of the Super Dome in New Orleans. It's on ESPN at 5:20 PDT. (It's so weird that Monday Night Football isn't on cable.) Sadly, I'll be working on the Housewives when it's on. That's where the geniues at
Indie 103.1 come in. They're broadcasting the performances on radio and Internet! Go
here to set up the "listen live" thingy.
Now on to a whole lot of TV...
Prison Break -- Oh, Sucre, you know your plotline is boring when I start to wish you'll wipe out on that bike. Is it wrong that I wanted Tweener and Debra Jean to run away & start a new life together? I hope there's enough air getting in that trunk. Still love C-Note; really love that he's dropped most of the posturing after escaping. And as always, I love T-Bag, but what the hell, Theodore?! Also, I wish my building's servicemen looked like Wenty.
Vanished -- As mysteries go, it's not a bad show. The problem is that I couldn't care less about Sara Collins. There is nothing endearing about her, so I'm totaly not emotionally invested in her recovery. I think it's because the only time viewers see her is through mostly-negative flashbacks. I get that the showrunners wanted to start ASAP after the kidnapping. But not knowing Sara pre-kidnapping makes me not so shocked that she possibly led a secret life.
Laguna Beach -- I have to be careful & not spoil the next ep, but I will say that it's a million times better than last week's suckfest. Anyway, a couple eps ago, the kids
went to San Diego. The dorktastic/whiny/likable
Tessa told
Rocky about a restaurant where the waiters are rude to customers on purpose. Dude, that's where
fenwic,
bliss_,
bigboobedcanuck,
juliedarling,
trjeanette and I had lunch! Thing is, we didn't know the waiters were supposed to be rude. That's pretty much the only squee-able event. I mean, I can't stand
Kyndra; I fucking abhor her nasty-ass friend
Cami; I don't think
Cameron is hot at all; and
Breanna, Lexie and Kelan are boring. I do like
Chase, even though I suspect he's in his early 20s. And I adore Rocky's boyfriend, Alex. Seriously, he's like the best high school boy who ever lived. I hope he doesn't turn out to be evil. (Nope, that's not a veiled hint.)
America's Next Top Model -- Our company live captions, which is great because I forgot to TiVo it. As always, there's the bitch diva, the "wild" small town girl, and the "I'm gonna be a staaaah!" girl. But this season, there's a
slighty goth/punk girl, and she's from Sacramento!!! Also, she's pretty but totally lacks confidence. Then there's an
Indian girl who broke down when telling the panel how dark skin & eyes are considered hideous in India. Tyra's declared her one of the most stunning women she's seen in a long time. (
lostingeekdom, you might have to watch this cycle.) The girls get makeovers next week. I can't wait for the drama!
Ugly Betty -- One word: adorable!!! I'll hold commentary until after the show premieres this Thursday... against my Smallville boyfriends :( Thank god I can watch UB at work.
Help Me Help You --
This show premieres tomorrow night at 9:30, and it's actually better than it sounds. First of all, Jane Kazcmarek is in it! I adore her so much, I can spell her last name without checking! There's a great "Hey, it's that guy!" too, but it might spoil the premiere. As with all shows I caption, I already have a most-hated character. Watch to figure out who. Like with UB, commentary after it airs.
Men in Trees -- As much as I bitch about this show (well, the post-production house), it's not that bad. Dude,
John Amos,
Abraham Benrubi (Jerry from ER),
Lauren Tom and
Cynthia Stevenson are on this show! They almost make me forget my burning hate for
Patrick. And I don't hate their not!McDreamy,
Jack.
Time to get ready for work. I'm doing OT again. Well, probably for the rest of the year. But it'll be worth it once I'm in Vancouver! Or Dallas! Or Toronto!
