First, I must apologize for my mother for not posting this closer to my birthday. I’ve been at her for days now to get this done but I can't really blame her. Since I started daycare, I have pretty much been sick since week one. I finally got well enough to return to school last week but guess what? I'm sick again now! Oh yes, I had a 105 degree fever yesterday and got to have my first emergency room visit and still continue to run the same high fever if I don't have Motrin and Children's Tylenol in my system at all times. The good news is that it's very likely only a virus that will simply have to run its course with no antibiotics, but I'm still one congested and HOT baby! With that said, I now present:
JOSHUA’S FIRST BIRTHDAY RECAP!
I had a wonderful first birthday party! I was amazed at how many people showed up to celebrate with me. Everyone brought me wonderful presents! Grandma Cheryl, Great Grandma Betty, Logan, Mimi, Papa, Mommy & Daddy worked to get the house and patio all decorated and blow up balloons right before the guests arrived. Grandma Cheryl prepared a table of appetizers that was so impressive! She actually used one of my birthday presents, a wheelbarrow, sand bucket, pale and sand scooper to serve some of the food in! The wheelbarrow was filled with fresh vegetables. The sand pale contained dip for the vegetables and everyone used the sand scooper as a spoon for the dip. She is so creative! Other items she prepared included deviled eggs, artichoke dip settled inside a bowl made of bread with bread pieces surrounding the dip, and little pimento cheese and ham salad sandwiches. My Grandma Cheryl’s friend Phyllis made some salsa to go with the chips and her other friend Loretta made a ham dip. Mimi said she noticed that everyone she saw filling up their plates with Grandma Cheryl’s appetizers commented on how neat the presentation was.
The cake was a gigantic strawberry Baby Einstein caterpillar cake accompanied by my own personal cake that was shaped like the caterpillar!
I hated my birthday hat and I didn't quite know what to think about my cake. It tasted so wonderful and I felt like I was doing something wrong while I ate it. I got green icing all over my face as depicted in the following images:
I loved opening all of my presents. I’m glad so many of my friends and family came to celebrate my birthday with me!
Thanks to everyone for the wonderful party. I certainly had fun turning one!
