Beauty is where the fulfillment of human desires and God's glorification meet.

Yesterday I discovered the most beautiful words I've seen since I can remember. My prayer, with a full heart and even a bit of laughter, was almost inaudible as I tried to decipher why I thought that specific combination of letters contained so much beauty, and what beauty was in the first place that it was so evident there.

As I walked to the park today, to spend some time with Jesus on the swing, I tried to communicate my feelings on the matter to God and came to the above definition of beauty. Beauty is something that makes you amazingly happy, and brings God glory in the process. Beauty is when the fulfillment of your desires line up with the fulfillment of His desires...it's that extra level of bliss when your head, heart, AND spirit all rejoice at once.

Which is a pretty fantastic thing.

To find something that quells the war between your spirit and your head and heart is quite a feat. It's always 'the flesh against the spirit' (dun dun duuun), but we sometimes forget that they all comprise one person...so, I've come to believe that that is how we are supposed to know that we're on the right track. Want to know whether or not you are supposed to do something? Whether or not something is God or not? Decide if it is just your head/heart or your spirit also that rejoices at the idea. If all three derive much happiness from it, you're good to go.

Of course, this requires that you be able to tell what is your spirit and your heart and head. But, if you can't do that yet, that is the first step.

Your heart and head hold your humanly desires, and your spirit desires to please and glorify God. When your heart, your head, and your spirit all burst at the seams at the idea of something, that is where it's at.

And that is different for everybody.
That is beautiful.
