Wow, today has been insane! I went into the hospital around 11:30 and was called back for pre-op info around noon. They gave me this gown and shorts, but I'm not sure why I had the shorts since the gown went to my ankles, lol.. Anyway, I was wheeled into the surgery room and hopped onto the surgery table. I met the people that would be working on me and then I was given the anesthesia... I started giggling, just like the last surgery I had, but that's because of the anesthesia...
I woke up about an hour and a haljf later and cuold hardly keep my eyes open at first. My mouth tasted horrible and my throat felt really sore and possibly swollen. A nurse came in to prop me up into a slightly sitting position and gave me a cup of apple juice. That was nice, since I hadn't had anything to eat or drink since 11pm and I wanted to wash the nasty taste out of my mouth.... So, I gradually became more aware of my surroundings and joked around with the trash guy, talking about how that was my job at home, lol... I was taken into the post-op room 2 to wait for my parents and to help get rid of the dizziness.
My parents came in and Ed said, "All right, let's go.." He was joking of course.. I spent about an hour waiting to get back to normal, as far as dizziness was concerned... I had to pee really bad because of the stuff in my IV(which a nurse explained was sort of like Gatoraid except without the sugar and color), so another nurse helped me in the bathroom, which was kind of embarrassing, but necessary. I'm sure you all wanted to know about that, lol... Anyway, then my doctor/surgeon, Dr. Downing came in and gave us pictures of my esophagus and explained that I would have to have this procedure done probably around every 2-4 weeks so that he could train my esophagus to remain wider.
Here's a picture... the other set is much more disgusting... But, I feel like grossing you all out just a little.. lol..
Sexy, huh? hehehehe....
Anyway, a nurse wheeled me out to the parking lot and helped me into the car. My parents took me to Wendy's because I was talking about how I was craving a baked potato and wanted to try their new vanilla frosties.. Both were great, and I do notice a big change in the width of my esophagus, things go down a lot easier than before..
Now, the craziest thing is, I called my sister and she and Lowell(her boyfriend) were picking up his sister from work at K-Mart. This girl stopped them and asked my sister, "Aren't you... somebody's sister?" and Heather replied, "Yeah, Holly's." So, the girl asked, "What's your last name?" and Heather said, "Deal." It turns out that it was Anna, my best friend from middle school. We were all freaking out, especially me because I've been having dreams about Anna lately, and missing her like crazy... So, Anna gave Heather her phone numbers and I'm gonna call her in a little bit, when she gets off of work. I am so excited, I never thought I'd hear from her again since I can't find her on myspace or anywhere online.... Craziness....
Anyway, yeah, I'm fine.. just a little sore in the throat, but that'll go away soon enough.
