Zine Scene

Aug 28, 2014 15:03

I mentioned in a recent post that I went to MediaWest con last year. It was fun, and I came away deciding I wanted to broaden my artistic horizons by contributing to fanzines, which is a medium heavily featured at this event.

Only problem is that fanzines are a dying breed, and the zine publishers that still exist either are completely incommunicado, old enough to have grandchildren, or they're on the surly side when you DO get a hold of them. So I'm sort of at a loss on what to do now. I've already sent several emails to a pretty prominent zine publisher, but with no response. And when I tried another publisher, I got yelled at when I followed up a few days later, because she had been driving 10 hours, just got in the door, didn't have time to talk to me, and somehow I was supposed to know all this.
Needless to say, I'm starting to get a little discouraged.

That said, does anyone out there know of any active fanzine publishers out there that accept contributions to multimedia anthologies? I know most of you guys are furry, but a few of you are fanfic writers, who might know more about this process than I do.

Note: Already tried Ashton Press and Agent with Style. :\
