Frustrations

Well, I can so relate to waterbabygur right now. I'm having frustrations in regards to home maintenance myself now. I just got a letter from the city stating that the whole yard better be cleaned up in the next two weeks or they are going to start fining us. Now, I admit, we have let the yard go, but it has been because last year my husband broke his thumb so bad that he even took the nail clean off while putting up a fence and because I have been so sick for so long.

Now, this spring and summer it has everything to do with my husband's schedule and his commute to and from work. THEN there's been the problem of that damned WoW game! I wasn't kidding when I said that I've been a WoW Widow lately.  And when I had the audacity to point out the situation (well before this letter mind you) to my hubby, I got yelled it as if the state of our yard was my fault alone! And just don't get me started about how he reacted today! You don't want to know what I had to threaten (and just how BAD I thought the communication problem had gotten) to get him to just listen to me without pitching another MAJOR and I mean MAJOR hissy fit. Two in one day is MORE than enough for me.

His Scotts blood bred true, that's for sure. Unfortunately for him, I'm first generation Serbian American, which means piss me off and God help you! And today, for the first time in our marriage, he finally managed to do just that. Anyway, after a heated exchange I finally got him to take two minutes to stand still and listen to my suggestions as how to tackle the problem so that he can get at least the front yard done tonight. He's out there right now calmly working on the front yard.

Now, I know that he is really exhausted after coming home from work all the time. I KNOW the commute is terrible. I know that he needs to relax, but there such things as household responsibilities too. He is really good about keeping up with the stuff inside the house, but he seems to HATE yard work and won't admit it. He also seems to despise asking anyone for help too. I think I'm going to have to do it for him and then take the fallout for doing it. I'm also going to call a lawn service after the yard is cleaned up and have them come out and to do the regular maintenance too. And I know that I'm going get the skin flailed off of me - ALIVE - for doing that, but it's either get this place cleaned up and have it stay that way, or the city will start fining us.

Well, gotta go,
