We had our cookout, which was a lot of fun. Thanks to Gina, Link, Erica, Doug, Fred, Kara, and Tanya for dropping in. Sorry to Kara and Tanya that you had to leave early. You were missed...
Lots of burgers were grilled, the homemade ice cream was pretty awesome, Zoey had a good time, and we're all exhausted but pleased with the good conversation and (at the end) the small bits of Wii time we spent on Super Mario Cart. The conversation was the best part, of course...Geeze, it's good to be social sometimes, and it's really great to have friends over after almost a year of living here (Kara's been here, but that's about it).
In other news, a couple of days ago, the microwave went *pop*. It kept running, everything seemed fine, but it didn't heat anymore. Surprisingly for us, we had bought the 3-year warranty just over a year ago, so we called Sears and asked what was next. They said we'd have to take it to the service center, which wasn't what we remembered about the warranty (we remembered they'd come out for free). So we trek to the ex-Salem Mall area, drop it off, and they tell us we'll hear from them when it's ready, but it should be 10 to 14 days(!). So no microwave for us for the next couple of weeks, sounds like.
And while finances are just totally screwed, Zoey stepped on a rose thorn, from the roses out front, last night while Amy was trimming them. She said, "All of a sudden, my foot hurts." Nobody thought much about it until this morning, when Zoey threw a fit and Amy found a thorn. There was NO WAY Amy and I could get the thorn out, so we went to Urgent Care. Zoey was a big girl, but the shot of lidocane in her foot was awful. They gave her a teddy bear and a popsicle for being such a big girl, and then we came home.
In other Zoey news, the pediatrician saw her a couple of days ago (Wednesday) and talked to us about a few things. We started potty training the next day, and she's doing really well. We're optimistic about how this is all going.
Back to work on Wednesday. Big sigh. I still have so much left to do, but I can tell it won't all happen this time. The time off has been pretty recharging, though, in some ways. I'm not *quite* so burnt out.
More soon, I hope.
