Busy busy busy

Two days ago, while I was a bit too busy to post, was the anniversary (one year) of my brother's passing. It was something of a surprise at the time, though his health hadn't been wonderful in the months preceding it, what with all the seizures. I'm fine, though, really.

So busy I can't see straight, and often so tired. One more week of classes, and my classes have decided to give Christmas presents to a homeless lady that's always around the college. Just when I'd gone all cynical, they do something nice...

It's the middle of the rough draft weekend, and I'm trying to understand where a LOT of the papers are. Especially the night class's papers. There's too many missing, which makes me nervous, since they'll all turn them in next week, and I'll try to grade them before Thursday. Ick.

But after Thursday, I'm out for a while (and looking for another job, and Christmas shopping, and...), so there's time to decompress a bit. Thursday's my birthday (and I'll be teaching), Friday's the Echos Dayton reading, and Saturday is helping Linc and Amanda move. Sunday, I think we're catching a movie (I Am Legend? Beowulf?) and doing some shopping while Amy's mom watches Zoey. After that, it chills out a little, and all of that is fairly enjoyable stuff.

We've been watching a few movies from the library (cheaper than the rental stores), but we've only just begun. We watched The Prestige, which was exactly what I heard it was but not what I expected (huh?), and now we're watching V For Vendetta, which is really compressed from the comic and a bit simplified (but not drastically changed) for the sake of movie storytelling. I don't love it yet (gotta finish it), but it's not too far different. More movies to go, as we have time.

Still no sign of the DS, but I've been too busy to look. Maybe after Thursday, I can really get down to looking again.

Got the oil changed in my car yesterday. It was WAAAAY overdue, and I even got them to change the wipers. One of the wipers was about to fall off, and the other made a terrible scraping sound if the rain wasn't too hard. They couldn't replace my headlight, though, which is an annoyance.

Also got new tennis shoes a few days ago with Christmas money from my parents. It's been far too long since I replaced those, and it feels a world better to put good shoes on my feet.

At the library, I picked up a book of poetry by Ethan Coen. Yes, a Coen brother, and I think I have some poems to read at the next open mic...

Back to the toddler...
