Life, According to Zoey, Part One

So a few days ago (for those of you not reading Amy's blog), Zoey started talking about the Big Red Monster. It would come to her in the middle of the night and talk to her. It would say "You broke wrist. Feel better." It would hug and kiss her. And Zoey was upset when Amy didn't leave the door open, once, when they went outside, because the Big Red Monster hadn't followed. She said the BRM spoke with a little boy's voice, and it wasn't Elmo.

To me, just before this, she talked about the guy and the dog in this house. We were (and still, on occasion, are) kinda creeped out by the idea, but we've had no bad feelings ourselves.

The babysitter thinks Zoey's starting her imaginary friend phase early, since she's such an intelligent child, and I'm beginning to agree. As a matter of fact, on the bed in her room, we had placed two things: An oversized dog doll and an oversized Elmo. Elmo was turned around, tossed carelessly, so it was more a big red mass. These things had been in storage for the last year, so Zoey hadn't seen them, and now she sees them from her crib.

Yesterday, she was telling Amy about the dinosaurs spinning in circles next to her crib overnight. No BRMs, no dogs, now we're to dinosaurs. We'll see where we are tomorrow, but I think it's fairly safe to say her imagination is kicking in.

Amy and Zoey took a walk yesterday, and along the way, Zoey picked some dandelions. She walked with them for a while, then found a puddle and dropped the dandelions in. She told Amy that the dandelions were swimming.

After she fell down yesterday, she took one of the curtain ties and wrapped it around her bruised knee. This, of course, will make it feel better the same way her cast makes her wrist feel better. Really, though, she's spending a lot of time with the curtain ties, since they're new to her.
