Starting tonight, and through all of tomorrow, I'll be performing on the Dayton team at this year's Rust Belt in Columbus. I don't know how it's going to go, though I expect to have a great time.
I haven't planned anywhere to stay while it's going on, but I may find somewhere in town to crash. Or not. I may just drive back and forth for the overnight time. I guess we'll see.
Things have gone wrong for the Dayton team, and we've lost three team members at the last minute. We're not sure who our last team member is tonight, though we'll figure out someone, I'm sure. I've known any number of teams that show up a member short and are supplied someone, as there's no shortage of poets at these things. Hells, it's how I made it onto Team Pittsburgh a few years ago (right, Nik?).
I've got an incomplete idea of what I'm doing. Linc will meet me there, so it's just me driving around, but I can find my way. I can't get there until after I drop the daughter off at her grandma's at 5, but that'll give me plenty of time, I think. Definitely plenty of time before our competition, but maybe I'll miss someting else. Hope not.
I want this weekend to be fun.
The Wordsmith Press says I may likely get my book next week to proof before it really goes to press. I'm just a bit excited.
Sunday is Father's Day. I strongly suspect I'll be buying a mower and mowing our new yard for the first time on that day. That's cool, as far as it goes.
Zoey has started combining words into short phrases, which has made it a bit easier to communicate with her. Yesterday, though, on Dora, Benny the bull was in his hot air balloon that crashed into the gooey geyser. Dora and Boots got him out, but for hours afterward, Zoey kept saying "Benny. Goo. Geyser."
We're moving in just a few more weeks, two or three, and we haven't moved anything yet. And next weekend is final draft weekend, but after Wednesday of the next week, there's a break in my teaching for several days. That's our best/only chance to get moved...These last several weeks have been ridiculously busy, and we've really only barely stayed ahead of where we need to be. *Sigh*
For now, I need to focus on the Rust Belt, though. The rest of it will have to wait.
