Partay

Yesterday was Zoey's (rather small) birthday party, as Amy's MySpace post reviewed. Amy's mom was here, as was my parents, and us. Zoey had a Dora party, which went pretty well, and it's not like she was concerned that there weren't more of us (she's still young enough that grandparents and parents are enough). She got a sand/water table, a tricycle, a Cowgirl Dora doll, Dora Memory cards, the Leapfrog letter magnets, a couple of cross-stitches from Mom, and a puzzle. She's been having fun with it all, of course.

This morning, Zoey came downstairs and saw the decorations we hadn't taken down yet from her birthday party. She walked in the kitchen, sat at the table, and told me she wanted something, but it took a minute to figure it out. She wanted me to get her candle and light it for her a few more times so she could blow it out. The party's not over, you see. I'm still wearing a Dora party hat...

Yesterday, we showed the grandparents (separately by chance, not choice), and Amy's mom thought the place would work well for us. My parents mostly just thought it was big, but I was competing against the fact that my sis just bought a huge (and expensive) house with a pool, so I'm not surprised that I "lost" that one. We'll post pix soon of the big, empty house.

Amy's back to work today and for the next two days. She can only miss one more day of training, and she doesn't want to miss that. But Dad rolled in with a possible (his doc says no, but they're not sure they agree) case of the shingles, so Zoey or Amy could come down with chicken pox, though Zoey was vaccinated (which cuts down on the chance) and Amy had a mild case when she was younger (which cuts down...).

Mom brought a big stack of children's books for Zoey, so we have a nice variety again that we've not over-read. She also brought more of Ally's old clothes, which are often too big and filed away for later, when the next growth spurt (expected anytime now) or two arrives.

It was a good weekend, despite the worries and the stomach flu (Zoey, then me, then Amy). It all went well, and it's over.

Next weekend is rough drafts. The weekend after is Rust Belt. The weekend after is final drafts. Then it's time to move for real (as opposed to moving in smaller amounts until then). It's still ridiculously busy for a while, but so far, so good.
