Home again, home again.
After a long-ass drive to Dayton, I stayed with Link for the night, but it took forever to meet up with him after his work and picking up his new posslq, Amanda. I wandered Dayton a bit, and ran into Ryan Roth, and later, Tod Weidner. When Link and I got together, we all walked over to Oregon Express for dinner, and their pizza has gotten SO much better since I last ate there (and it was great then, so you can only imagine). Bedtime could not arrive too soon, though, after that drive.
Yesterday, I got up early and drove to Trotwood, where the teacher job fair was. I managed to give my resume to 23 school districts or more in four hours' time. Antioch Univ was there, but only to try to lure some of us back into taking more classes. No, I've got my MA. No, I don't want to be a principal. Anyway, a few districts seemed interested, and I left there exhausted yet again and sore from being stuck on my feet in my uncomfortable shoes for too long. I hopped in the car and headed for the in-laws, where I dropped off pictures and a video of Zoey, talked a little, and hit the road again. I stopped at Kroger for a few things (no Kroger in Chattanooga), then drove home all afternoon/evening, listening to cds, until I finally got home.
I missed Amy and Zoey terribly, though you'd think I wouldn't have, since I was so busy. No, there was still time to miss them...
Oh, the car...I borrowed my dad's semi-new Accord for the drive, which was nice. But getting it was difficult, as Dad had some comments I couldn't ignore. Among other things, he said: if the only reason I moved down here was because of Mom's guilt trip, he wished I hadn't; he knows he hasn't been a very good father; he hopes we'll let them see Zoey as much as possible before we move. Yeah, stuff like that. He also told me that if I lock the key in the car, he's heard (the ever-reliable "they" say) that you can open the door by holding a cell phone up to the door lock. No, Dad, I really don't think so at all.
Anyway, adventures in Dayton are over for now. We'll see if there's any success from my visit...
