I have very strong beliefs. And one of them, is to not abandon my friends. No matter what.
I remember this BBQ on Xmas Eve 2002.

On Xmas Eve, Wenjun and I had planned to have some fun at Yao Hwee's BBQ. But ya know what? Seems that Kongsing, Weihao and Pradeeban were also coming along... though they really haven't informed the host yet.
Now that was trouble...
(let me recall what happened..)
The five of us came and settled peacefully in his room, along with 2 of his other friends (whom I didn't like anyway). Then Hwee shouted for Wenjun all of a sudden. Somehow, that outraged me. Come on', you don't shout at my friend for no reason. No matter if you are his friend.
So I followed him down. Hwee then told us that he wasn't expecting the other 3 lads and was adamant that there wouldn't be enough food for all of us. hmm. Not enough food? okay then. So I offered for my, and Wenjun's share of food to be lessened, so that everyone can be happy.
But he wasn't. We left the house and headed to the BBQ pit. And over there, we talked some more. Hwee told us, that there was no way he had invited Kongsing, WH, and Pradeeban, and called them unwanted guests. (He had his reasons for that. He only wanted special friends to turn up) Well well, anyway, it was asked how come they knew of the BBQ anyway. And I said, "It could be me. I told them that I was coming to today's BBQ. But I didn't say it was open-house (clearly it was impossible), and somehow they came anyway. I thought they had called you!"
As you can see, I felt as if it WAS my fault. Yeah...
Wenjun and I tried to remedy the situation. We wanted very much to rush to West Mall's Shop & Save to buy some last minute chicken wings. But NOOOO!
NOOO! He said.
"Even if you buy new food for us, I am STILL going to tell them to buy their own food."

Now that comment f***** me up a lot. I can't believe how he thought of my friends, of how selfish he can be, even during Xmas. (yeah. at that time.)
So I left. Along with the 3 of them. But not before I had to give Wenjun a very difficult sorry. (if it weren't for me... he wouldn't even have wanted to come at all) And He had to stay... cause he has promised to.

I guess we're cool now, but I have never seen or spoken to Hwee since then, and it's nearly 3 years already.
It feels stupid, because Hwee has always been a good pal to me, we shared a lot of happy times together with Yuhan, Minghann, Danial and Wenjun.
BUT I THREW THAT AWAY BECAUSE OF MY LOYALTY TO Ks, Weihao and Pradee.
FUCK!

Tsk! Right now, a similar matter is arising. Moses & Andrew prefers Wild Wild Wet to any other activity on Sat afternoon.
Yeah. But what about Aidi, Binghong, Nizam, Diana, Chiew hoon, Andy, Amanda and Shumei? They had agreed to come for the BBQ.
Yeah, yeah, I can say that the BBQ is cancelled, and that we're gonna go on Wild Wild Wet instead. And evening we're going to ECP for dinner. And I did.
"Erm, sorry the BBQ is cancelled, but we're going to Wild Wild Wet instead."
"Can you make it?"
"Huh? What if I don't want to go to WWW instead? But I wanna join you, so what do I do?"

"Sorry...I'm only free in the evening,"
"No?"
"Oh, that's too bad!"
Tsk. I am NOT LIKE THAT! AND I DON'T LIKE HAVING TO SAY THAT EITHER!

Disclaimer: I'm not trying to blame Andrew or Moses in any way. They have their reasons, which I feel is valid. The decision just clashes with my beliefs......I don't like having invited people over for something, and then cancel it, alter plans and leave them out in the cold like that. Ergh...I still feel it's that way.
THOUGH, Aidi, Amanda, Diana and Binghong has already graciously replied that it's alright. Maybe it really is. I have to relax....
