Shannon has gotten the foraging bug and has been out a couple of times hunting for food. This weekend we both went out and took a hike up Rattlesnake Canyon (where the Tea fire burned) looking for fire weed. Didn't find any, but the landscape is interesting nonetheless.
We mostly found edible plants down in the canyon floor where it was wet. We found watercress, mint, plantain, chia and fennel, and from a freeway exit Shannon got some yucca flowers.
Tonight we ate watercress and yucca flower soup and sauteed fennel with plantain. The pasta with pesto is from the garden. The soup was great.
