I went to the Cotati Accordion Festival this weekend with my brother and Dino and a bunch of their friends. There were about 25 groups performing over the two days. We went on Saturday and the crowd was a mix of geriatric Italians with accordion music in their blood and punk rock kids who watched Amelie one too many times and then decided to start a punk band.
The statue of the founder of the festival, Jim Boggio.
Lots and lots of accordions for sale.
All those accordions come in cases.
Accordion Apocalypse, the (or a) San Francisco punk-rock-accordion-clown-troupe.
The Golden State Accordion Society "jam tent." The group was playing beer barrel polka when I was there. But what's up with the dude with the bass clarinet?
The non-punk half of the audience.
