I was talking to TC about this today. We realised we pretty much have enough tinned/dried food to comfortably survive for well over the recommended 14 days. Admittedly, we'd be eating a lot of "bean pasta" but we'd be fine. The joy of bulk purchasing food, I guess. Having a water tank and a gas BBQ also helps :)

The only thing we'd not have would be UHT milk and extra medication. I guess I'd have to learn to live with black tea & coffee :D

I think if it comes to it we are looking at a lot of bean pasta too :) probably more bean rice actually.

I didn't even think about medication, that could cause some serious problems--I get my meds on a month by month basis, and replace them just as I run out, so it is possible that I could run out if they were to stop being available for a few weeks. I may have to start keeping a secret stash.

With all those beans and lentils, won't you notice the deficit of toilet paper :)One report from a shopping centre said that that was the first thing to go.

Glad to see you're safe. I've been scouring the various community pages and keeping tabs on who posts.

I take a tin of cannallini beans and put them in a pot on the stove with a bit of oil that has had garlic cloves in it (or just with some garlic and oil) and as it heats through you mash it. In less than 5 minutes you get this lovely quick mash that gives you all the yum and comfort of mashed potatos, but in less time and is pretty healthy. Maybe a little lemon zest in with the oil at the start?

Also - vegan friendly spicy nuts. can find the recipe if you like.

Did you see owlrighs pictures of the supermarket she worked at?

Glad most of those I know in Brisbane seem not too badly effected, I hope you remain adequately supplied over the next feww weeks.
