A River Runs Through It
'It' being my neighbor's back yard. We live on a block with a steep slope and next door have steps that go from the high point at the back down to the front driveway. They seem to have had a permenant water feature since the day after we moved in here (9/12/2010). Seriously, it is like they have a backyard waterfall.
We are safe and on high ground and grateful that we have chosen to live in the hills. There is a lot of water going past us, and some damage to boxes we had stored underneath the house, but so far we have been very lucky. Inside the house everything has a damp feel, and there has been some mold showing up on cupboard doors, thankfully it has been easy to fix. Still, once this is all past I suspect we will need a skip bin.
