Monday Monday
Wow I had a basically nerdy non-productive weekend. I finally got to the post office to mail

But essentially I spend Thursday-Saturday geeking away with the new ubuntu release, Lucid Lynx. It killed the ability to play dvds, so I had to download the codecs from medibuntu. The problem was well EVERYBODY and their PUPPY were also trying to download those codecs from medibuntu. So it was down and wouldn't download. For. Two. Days.
Conferring with my brother-in-law who was also upgrading his ubuntu system, he didn't even realize dvd playing was busted until he tried. Then he got to spend many many many hours trying to get the drivers to download.
It is suppose to do "social networking" via gwitter. It is suppose to give you your updates from twitter, facebook, flicker, etc. I only have facebook so I tried plugging in the settings getting it "authorized" and everything and you know what? It doesn't work. I went online to discover that I am not alone in it. But since I don't Facebook much I'm not that worried about it.
It mostly hasn't changed that much from jaunty jackalope except they moved the Minimize/Full Screen/Close Window buttons on the windows have moved to the left side of a window. The themes are less brown. It has some really pretty wallpapers. The wireless worked after upgrade. So Sunday I spent it happily surfing.
