geeking 102: linux turn

Apr 26, 2008 15:12

So here I am, typing on my old compaq laptop upgrading the linux on it from Feisty Fawn (7.10) to Hefty Heron (8.04). I'm running the update through the update manager. Right now it's downloading 1112 packages and soon will remove and add all it needs for the upgrade. I'm just hoping my wireless will work later (I'm wired right now so the download can go faster. I'm at 810 of 1112 files).

God speaking of files... probably against my better judgment I'm trying to move my mediamax files over to the new "the linkup" service. If I select upload everything... I get a coldfusion error. But if I say let me move selected files, I can click and add, but the nuisance of that is I have some 20 screens and I start to lose count. I have supposed 19245 files and I have 7000 queued up. I can't help but think it won't matter all of them will bite the dust somehow.

I also sent emails to both linkup and mediamax griping about how I couldn't see my files in mm until I provided payment information. I'm paid up until October, I think I should still be able to see my shit until then. But the other day I figured I'd put the info in and try out the linkup for a year and see if it's worth it. In any case, my email yield a response of the fact that they apparently double-billed me back in October and they would pay me back for one of those billings. Wow. That was news to me. I just remembered being pissed that they took the money out of Paypal without so much as a notification that they had done it. The drama continues I guess.

Proof that I work too damn much? This morning I woke up at 5:50 a.m. and thought, "I'm going to have to get up in an hour to go to work." *headdesk* Last weekend when I went to bed on Friday night I was convinced the next day was going to be Sunday (instead of Saturday).

822 of 1112 files with 29 minutes remaining...
