I've done the three heart thing but with only one bottle that could get annoying. Especially since with some enemies you can get killed twice.
i.e. The heavilt armored axe wielding baddies in the spirit temple...they swing once it kills you instantly, but if you have a fairy you get revived. The problem is...the backswing hits you immediately after the fairy scene ends.
pfffft get rid of shield? that would make it uber hard, admitted
but having to get mirror shield ruins it and you cant kill that, although i can think of a trick to unequip shields after having it... but it would require buying regular shield for a second.
and you need to have a wooden one until you find a firey bat friend...
in the end, it doesnt mean anything to have teh same w.o a shield, since you could generate the same save after playing teh whole game with them. but fighting some of the wolves/skeletons by dodging rather than shielding might be fun... I'll start doing that in the current save :)
ps dude dark link was a bitch w/ 3 hearts... mainly because i lack biggoron sword... took me 3 tries to kill him ( = 17 total hearts, 5/6 down on last attempt before he died, this counts fairies as +3 )
