a day in the life of andy

FIRST something interesting... They posted this on the post about it), but it would appear that black death immunity is also immunity to AIDS! Very cool. Here is the link to the PBS article!

Also in the news today: I got new trick pants! They are way cool. Stretchy green fabric with two yellow stripes up the outside of each leg. And pockets. Very nice! They feel like I'm wearing nothing at all :)

Yesterday I was going through my food to see if I should finish anything off. I found my bag of frozen yellow squash. There were two servings left. I decided I would eat one and throw the other out because I had not enjoyed it on previous tastes. To my surprise I actually liked it by the time I finished the first serving, so I ate the second as well! Andy has adapted to yet another realm of flavor. Next up: cheese (I hope). How shall I work into liking cheese? Anyone have suggestions for particularly good mild cheeses?

I tried something new this evening. The water comes out of our faucet at something like 170 degrees (really damned hot, to the point where it scalds but does not blister after short contact). I filled my cook pot with a few cups of hot water straight from the tap and placed some of my rotini in it. Left for twenty minutes, it actually got soft! It was strange though... Not quite as yellow and a little chalky in texture, it seemed more like the wheat had started to seperate than the pasta had been cooked. Very good, but a foreign experience. Anyone have any other fun and different ways to cook pasta? Maybe in oil? Or would that make it crispy :) How about in apple juice haha
