Patrons being extra special

Today's quest; fish sauce and London broil.

We figured at any decent Asian grocery would have everything we needed. Alas, we found no beef worth buying. Granted, pig is really the land mammal of choice in such places, but there's usually some cow to be had.

The only other item I wanted was Japanese canned coffee. I like "Black Boss" ( don't ask, maybe it's less strange in Japan. Then again, probably not. ) The ingredient list is two items long; coffee beans and water. Japanese cans are also interesting, apparently being built to withstand nuclear fallout. Sadly, the canned coffee was all as heavily sugared and stabilized as the usual American fare.

For meat, we ended up at the local Latin mart. It's small and the things it does well it does better than anywhere else. Some meats are very good, though the cuts are different. I always get some fry cheese. Offering a limited variety of brands, though all things Goya can be had. It was here that shoppers were, um, blogworthy.

The woman in front of us stops suddenly, abandons her shopping cart, blocking the world, and ducks down an aisle to investigate something. A couple of other women in conversation block the rest of our passage. As we stand, dumbfounded at the cart abandonment and considering our escape options, one of the other blockers decides to up the rude shopper ante.

She wanders over to the abandoned cart and begins to inspect the contents. Some corn catches her eye. She takes it out of the other woman's cart, gives it a considering look, and takes it! We stare at WTF shopper number two, nonplussed. She gives us this "what are you going to do about it" look and saunters away. Clearly, this is common practice for her.

If rude woman number one hadn't been so annoying, we probably would have said something. However, it all seemed like some strange rude shopper karma and we left the scene of the crime at speed. The check out guy asked us about our shopping experience and we regaled him with the scene we'd just witnessed. He seemed suitably impressed.
