Why I'm a Libertarian Party Member gentlemanj September 14 2006, 21:59:25 UTC
The way the Democratic Party is operating nowadays, the Republicans don't need to tamper with any votes.

I was under the impression that the Democrats were supposed to be the viable alternative to the Republicans. Of course, the Republicans have changed considerably since the days of Barry Goldwater.

Both parties are for the War in Iraq. Both parties are for more government, more taxes, more surveillance of the population, more restrictions on our freedoms under the Bill of Rights.

Both parties are for the War on Drugs, against same-sex marriage(as well as heterosexual polygamy and polyandry), and support international entanglements. Both parties are full of bureaucratic blowhards who have been in office for decades. The parties, through careful gerrymandering, have fiefdoms that have not changed in decades and are unlikely to change in the future.

The main difference is that the Democrats are desperately trying to become as much like the Republicans as they can, and their chameleon-like behavior causes distrust. They have no issue that they firmly differ from the GOP except abortion, and they are even losing there.

The Diebold machines may be used to fudge results--but stuffed ballotboxes and other such tricks are as old as Democracy itself. As I said, if you Democrats out there need to blame someone for losing over and over again, look in the mirror.
