Kristy you're SO full of it :P You're a writer for christ's sake! LOL. (one of my faves ;).
Oh I have my Xander issues, Joh and I complain about it all the time...and yet he doesn't annoy me nearly as much as Willow does. A lot of it, pretty much adds up thim being a stupid, ignorant boy, wanting what he can't have. But with me, I had more issues with Willow because she did this annoying passive aggressive thing which was even more maddening than Xander, at least when he was pissed off at you, you knew where you stood. Instead Willow tries to push you into a relationship a mere, what 2 months after you killed the love of your life? Is that her being supportive, or because she doesn't want to feel bad about having a boyfriend and Buffy not. She's also the one that ditches her at the Espresso Pump. She just progressively becomes more self-involved, less of Buffy's supportive best friend and it really bothers me.
Also Willow just got a ridiculous storyline and the fact that Xander all but disappeared left me wanting. So as much issues as I have with them both, when I re-watch I notice more and more passive aggressive things that she does. Obviously let's not discount the support and love that they DID provide, of that I have no doubt. I still love them both, but y'know in the end they're all flawed, I can just handle Xander's flaws more than I can handle Willow's.
But the two things that make me the most irate with Xander is yes - "kick his ass" will probably never be forgiven, and 2) Him cheating on Cordelia. Not necessarily because I'd ship C/X, but because I ship the W/X friendship, I feel like he took her love for granted, that he only wanted her because he couldn't have her, but wanting Cordy and mooning over Buffy at the same time. It was just a fling, a dirty little secret for him because I've never believed he ever loved Willow like that, and I'm of the camp that Cordelia was more invested in the relationship then he was. She loved him! But...then you have throughout the seasons, Xander being the most openly (? that's not the right word..) supportive of Buffy. Meaning, an example would be in The Freshman when Buffy is down on herself, and Xander is the one that picks her back up. There are times like those that are sprinkled throughout and he's there for her when she needed it.
But with regards to Becoming, to his credit, I'm not sure it fit anywhere in the other previous seasons to be able to address it. There was always so much going on, I kind of feel like they all forgot about it and then one of the writer's went "Oh but do you remember that little white lie?" "Oh right...um...try and throw that in there somewhere mkay?". Although I know we got Buffy re-stating that not only was he the love of her life, but she loved him more than anything in this LIFE (still...5 yrs later), that wasn't enough of a reaction to me. That was way too traumatizing a time in her life for to barely acknowledge it. The only reason he addressed it was because it was the last season. Also, does anyone ever wonder what happened to Marcy? LOL.

Whatev Kristy :P
Oh man I hang on to every word, and when Joh and I are watching we start giggling madly before the line is even said, we'll say it before it happens, say it when it happens and giggle some more...and then rewind it and watch it again *G*. Then I become a 12 yr old fangurl whenever Buffy and Angel (or y'know, Angel on his own..) are on screen. I'm full of AWNESS THAT IS ZOMG SO HOTSWEETSEXYOMGLOOOOOVE.
Haha there are a lot of times when I wished Xander would be given what he deserves SO many times, but I feel like at least he grew out of it. He'll never like Angel, we know this but IMO it has a LOT to do with Jesse being killed in the first episode. He hates Angel because he's a vampire not because of who he is to Buffy - I mean a little bit, but the hatred is deeper than that. He never hated Riley in fact they got along well, and Xander needed that guy friend. But to me...Willow got worse - and yes he was mean to Angel, not that Angel was ever nice to him...when people are bitchy to Buffy it makes me go postal (die Rona & Kennedy DIE) And you are SO right about the Willow/Oz thing, Willow was DESTROYED, and she even did a dangerous spell but it's all "ooh hahah you'll bake us some cookies and it'll all be ok". WTF?
