Today it has been a week since the tragedy caused by floods in Rio de Janeiro state happened.
I expected to write something about it only when all of this ended, but then i remember it won't end soon. The chaos maybe.
It will take more time for the families to recover from such tragedy, losing their homes, their hardwork of a lifetime and their loved ones. Their normal lifes, you might say.
In a few weeks, we'll have less and less news about them on tv and we, people who aren't dealing with this, will have the fake feeling it's over now. It won't be.
How do you restart your life after something like this?
What's happening now is the biggest natural disaster Brazil has ever faced. And one that could have taken less lives than the almost 700 diceases counted so far if we have been precautious. I mean, it's not the first time something like this has happened, but not as horrible as this one. Also we can't forget Rio de Janeiro's neighbour states are also passing through a hard time with so much rain.
But seeing it in a more optimistic side, the brazilians are getting together for a single goal: Help each other.
And it's a good feeling you know? Seeing how much help is being sent from all over Brazil to people they don't even know, but you feel for then. People waiting hours in line to donate blood for the victims, that's what we need.
Compassion. Hope. Determination.
I'm helping my compatriots already by donating needed things, if you're in Brazil and haven't done so far, please do.
If you live abroad, as other people have asked so far, go to
helpbrazil2011 .
Any help even the smallest one is appreciated. E vamos, Brasil que brasileiro não desiste nunca :)
