Let's talk about Harry Potter!

Jun 13, 2007 21:22

Pati yung pari namin kanina sa misa ay fan pala ng Harry Potter. Hehe. He based his homily on book 3, patronuses(Do not be afraid) and I was pleased that he mentioned one of my favorite lines from the series:
It is your choices, Harry, that show what you truly are, far more than your abilities. :D

Hehe.

Anyway, someone pointed out something (just read it) few minutes ago. Harry will not die. 99.9% chance that he will live.
Why?
They're creating a Harry Potter theme park which will be open to the public by 2010. Bad publicity siguro kung patay yung hero pero may theme park eh 'di ba dapat masaya? It kinda makes sense.

Grrr... today reminded me so much of Harry Potter. I have to read that Deathly Hallows book soon. Pero all these years it's been fun reading essays/theories by people. Most have made predictions for future books. I believe one person predicted (using alchemy) before the release of Half-Blood Prince that Snape is the Half-Blood Prince. Galing!

[By the way, I had a dream last night... I thought it was July 21st already and at 6:30am I say bye-bye to dad and rushed to Powerbooks but when I arrived they told me that there was still 1 week to go before the release of the book. When I returned home, dad was saying, "I knew it was still next week." And I wanted to yell, "WHY DIDN'T YOU STOP ME FROM LEAVING THE HOUSE?" And then I woke up.]

I think that Harry will fall in love with Hermione and then Ron will get together will Luna Lovegood. What about Ginny? Well... who cares about Ginny? Not me. I don't like her with Harry. She's quite a bitch. She's cruel to Ron, she curses people who simply annoy her... she has no proper or gradual character development. And I think that Harry was only physically/sexually attracted to her and I also believe that she did not genuinely care for Harry. She dumped Dean because he helped her walk through the portrait hole. She was deliberately making Harry jealous, especially when he caught them kissing behind the tapestry. She probably planned that since she knew Harry would pass that way! Then when Harry broke up with her (hooray) she said that she thinks Harry will not be happy unless he was hunting Voldemort. WHAT?!! Why would that make Harry happy? Gah, she doesn't understand him. She's probably evil. Why can she say the name Voldemort without flinching? And in book 2 when she was only 11 years old she called Voldemort "The Dark Lord" That's what DEATH EATERS call Voldemort. In book 6 she's suddenly so popular and pretty and every boy seems to notice her and whoa why is she suddenly so fantastic at Quidditch?! I also disliked her even more when she defended Harry for using the spell Sectumsempra on Draco Malfoy and then when Hermione was telling Harry that he shouldn't have done it, Ginny yelled at her. What the fuck eh mali naman talaga si Harry - nagpapalakas lang si Ginny sa kanya. WHATEVER. And as for Ron and Hermione... INCOMPATIBLE. They keep on fighting and fighting. Ron makes her cry. He doesn't even say sorry. She insults him. She doesn't say sorry. Hermione puts Harry first before Ron. Hermione attacked Ron with canaries. Hermione ignores Ron. Ron doesn't think that Hermione is dateable because he couldn't believe Krum asked her out to the ball. Ron is mean to her. The only reason why those to tolerate each other is because of Harry. When they're together, they talk about Harry. Viktor Krum was jealous of Harry. Cho Chang was jealous of Hermione. If Ron really likes her he should have asked her out. He had the chance when Hermione asked him to go to the Slug Club party with him but he still ran to Lavander Brown's arms.

*breathe*

JK Rowling said that she is writing an alchemical journey for Harry. To read more about Harry Potter and alchemical theories... well.. search for it. Marami. I did not think of this myself. Other people have done fabulous research and analysis of the alchemy in Harry Potter and I just typed here whatever I recall from reading their essays. Harry is on a journey to turn himself into "gold" (not literally, siyempre in the alchemical sense). In a chemical wedding of alchemy there is a joining of 2 elements: sulphur + mercury. Hermione is believed to be mercury (based on her name, star sign, birthdate) and Harry is sulphur (ruled by the sun, birthdate, main character). I can't explain everything basta Ron, as mercurius is supposed to help bring the two of them together. We shall see in the 7th book... Or Ron is salt but I forgot what his role is as salt.

Also included in alchemy are the 7 stages (hence, 7 books). 5th is the black death and in book five namatay si Sirius BLACK. Then 6th is the white death sa book six namatay si ALBUS (white) Dumbledore. 7th is the red death. Believed to be RUBEUS (red) Hagrid's death or if JKR tweaks it a bit... a red death so baka one of the Weasleys? *cough*Ginny*cough.

Then here is one of the interesting stuff I've seen. It's a theory by several people and was made into an essay by someone called Books&Cleverness. Do you know the poem by Edward Lear... The Owl and the Pussycat? (One of my favorite poems as a child. I loved reciting it in sing-song).

The Owl and the Pussy-Cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat:
They took some honey, and plenty of money
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
"O lovely Pussy, O Pussy, my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
You are,
You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!"

Pussy said to the Owl, "You elegant fowl,
How charmingly sweet you sing!
Oh! let us be married; too long we have tarried:
But what shall we do for a ring?"
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the bong-tree grows;
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood,
With a ring at the end of his nose,
His nose,
His nose,
With a ring at the end of his nose.

"Dear Pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your ring?" Said the Piggy, "I will."
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand on the edge of the sand
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon,
The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.

Basically, the theory says that the animals in this poem represent Harry's, Ron's and Hermione's pets. The owl (Hedwig) and the pussy-cat (Crookshanks) are to be married thanks to the ring from the pig (Ron's owl named PIGwidgeon). In the chemical wedding of sulphur and mercury (Harry and Hermione) in book 5, when Harry arrives in Grimmauld Place, Hermione hugs him (a hug that knocked him flat and we see this in the movie!!! Did you see the trailer?) and they are symbolically joined by PIGwidgeon. It “zooms excitedly round and round their heads.”

Okay enough for today. I am determined to post lots of Harry Potter stuff before July 21. And we'll see kung tumama ang mga theories na ito.
Stuff I will add next time: theories on the chess scenes, more alchemy, etc.
