Well, let's see...

Last week I managed to:

-- Forget the name of a job candidate right after her referencee's voice mail picked up -- and I had no resume in front of me to remind me. What did I do? Hung up on the machine after giving MY name, then called back and blamed Junior B-List, of course.

-- Reconnected with a friend from 8th grade, but only after a befuddled exchange of about six e-mails before I realized I'd given her my name as I use it now, rather than my middle and maiden name that I went by then.

-- Choked when the doctor asked me for Junior B-List's date of birth and very nearly listed it as July 2, rather than Feb. 7.

What do you suppose I can screw up THIS week?? I suppose I can forget that my mother made a specific request for her birthday, and then remember too late to mail it on time.

Meanwhile, I'm remembering why I shouldn't read books not related to my vocation. Judge me how you will, I'm finding the history of electricity SO much more exciting than the world of politics. It just makes me want to chuck my job and go apprentice in a lab to develop the next big energy efficient breakthrough. Because, you know, me and Edison? Yeah, we've got gobs in common. Like, uh, he was deaf and Mr. B-List swears I am heading that way.
