and my reply:
Hey, everybody look! I got my first hater! Kudos to you, anon for being the very first person to come here and deliberately take time from your life to write me such hateful things. I am guessing you are also one of those people, who regularly leave this type of thing on other Hanson blogs. You just can’t let us have fun can ya?
First, let me start by saying I am not up to date on what is in for sin and what isn’t, but I am willing to bet being creative isn’t a sin. I could be wrong, of course.
I do not claim to be an adult, because I am one. Although, I am often mistaken for 16-17 and strangers often have a hard time believing I am in fact 28. Are you just jealous, because I look so damned youthful?
Obviously, you are coming at me as a Hanson fan, but I am going to address this to all fanfic haters!
As an adult, no matter how young I look, I am allowed to make my own choices. I, like many adults, see fanfiction as a creative outlet. A way to relax and have a bit of fun. Rossif Sutherland was recently saying that in being an actor it isn’t about wanting to be someone else or play pretend. It is about exploring all the lives one could have lived. I feel this way about fanfiction (or any fictional writing). It isn’t a story or a way to ruin or defame a person, it is simply finding a life you (or your reader) could live for a few hours. An escape, as reading often is.
If Taylor or anybody’s children, were to find one of my stories, then okay. If a wife or significant other, parents, siblings, uncle’s mailman’s dog walker finds them, then they do. It is a risk I and others take, when putting things like this out there, I have no shame. Nobody should ever have shame in the art they create, especially if it brings others joy. You are legit the first person to ever, directly, tell me they didn’t like what I was doing. I respect that, but I don’t care.
In a world where people will legit stalk celebs, show up at their home/hotel/job etc I feel that a few fictional stories on the internet really don’t matter. If I want to sit at home, comfy in my pjs, with a cup of tea and write then I feel it is less frowned upon.
Now, in final thought I say: If someone, anyone, ever wants to find my life interesting enough they want to use me as a character, or write fanfics about me then please do! Please, write all that you want, in fact send me the stories too! I’d love to read what you have created and I would feel it a great honour that you used me, when you clearly could have used any person in the world. Oh! And don’t worry whether or not they are trashy, because some times the trashier the better. Ow yeah!
