I really like this - it's extremely tightly written but packs a punch in a few words. I love power dynamics and the way Arthur deliberately gives up control to Merlin. (It's a small private moment where he can just be Arthur and not the prince.)
Thanks! I think in part it really is the power dynamics--not necessarily as they are in the series, but as they might be--that make what they get up to in the bedroom so interesting. Well, that and the pretty.
Exactly! We know that Merlin is allowing himself to be overpowered in almost the same way Arthur is willingly giving over control. (One can even push the parallel into an irony because if Merlin truly wanted to overpower Arthur, there would be no way Arthur could stop him.)
So in an odd way Arthur's understanding of the power dynamics is both exactly correct (because of who Merlin is) and completely backwards (because of what Merlin can do). *g*
