Opera squee! La Cenerentola on DVD
At long last Jean-Pierre Ponnelle's 1981 production La Cenerentola has been released on DVD. And since when it comes to things I really want to squee over, I'm rather like a misplaced Austen hero (if I loved it less, I could talk about it more) all I can say is this is an intensely beautiful version, both as an opera and a film, and I recommend it to everyone who isn't totally adverse to filmed opera.
