A live act usually refers to the fact they use instruments IE: synths to play out the music manually (usually using DAT tapes and samples etc to make the set) as opposed to playing a DJ set (turntables, cdj's mixer etc).
Lab 4 always do their music live, so it usually looks a little something like this..
Their act is one of the most talented onstage I've ever seen, which is why I admire them so much. It takes alot of practise and sessions to get a set fully 100% right if your playing it live.

lab4 are the last group i saw at a a rave
