Ahhh, it feels great to be in a new band again. Writing, recording, making music, making videos... and all without James Iha trying (in vain, of course) to steal my thunder!
For those of you who don't know:
-Our single (our being Zwan, of course - not the Pumpkins), "Honestly," is all over the air waves, taking over the ears, minds, and souls of listeners everywhere.
-The Honestly video has been pre-released to the website at http://www.zwan.com I love what we did with it. It's a pretty simple band-type video, but we used a lot of neon backdrops with transparent outlines of the band members playing instruments.
-Our new album, Mary Star of the Sea, is due to be released January 28th. That's right, that's in about two weeks. And let me just say that I am *thrilled* with the album. You all are going to love it.
-I am growing a goatee. It looks hot. You know you like it. Or to quote the deceased Kurt Cobain, "you know I'm right." Wait a second... that wasn't it...
So there's your little news update. I feel 20 years old again. It's like a whole fresh start, like when we released Gish, and we were all so happy just to be in a band, only it's easier because Smashing Pumpkins fans are already anxious to get into Zwan, so we don't have to go through the whole "I'm Billy Corgan and this is my band. I know you've never heard of us, but you WILL like us" thing. The breaking through part... that's the hardest part of being in a new band, and it's nice to get a fresh start without having to go through that. We haven't even released an album and already our shows are selling out!! We're playing five or six shows at the Metro in Chicago before we get started on our international tour. Well I don't know about you guys, but I'm excited.
