I know what you mean. I was very glad the jumping from the roof didn't kill them, because at that point I really wasn't too fussed. I mean, I wanted to be, but (either because I'm not well at the moment or because the Moff was off-target) I just... wasn't.

The thing with this season, I think, is that it's been character over plot. That's... well-intentioned, but wrong. The focus has been so strong on emotional impact (Ahhh, Daleks! Oooo, Dinosaurs! Wow, cowboy! Hehehehe, boxes! Noooo, Angels!) that they've completely left behind the logical/tightly-plotted basis. It's as though they're just throwing character moments at us without realising that they're empty without a solid plot and sense underneath them.

Wow, bit of a rant there... sorry about that *sheepish*

I did think it was an emotional ending for the two of them, though, and possibly the only one that the Doctor would ever accept - he doesn't usually go back for anyone, so once they leave they're gone, but Amy and Rory were an exception...
