Sherlock: A Scandal In Belgravia

Well. It's the episode we've been waiting for. And it lived up to my every expectation! :D

There will probably be more than one post about this episode, because ... well. Because there was just so much stuff in there. I can't express my many and various thoughts in this slap-dash just-before-bed working-on-memory manner. Definitely it needs a re- ( Read more... )

Haha, you're going to want to fix your html. :P

-I AGREE SO HARD ABOUT MORIARTY. God, I fucking adore him, my heart and all of the spare ones I can find lying around in a box to Andrew Scott for a brilliant, creepy, fucking terrifying performance, holy shit, man's a scary genius.

-"THE SPECKLED BLONDE" MADE ME LOL SO HARD, NO LIE. AND THE DEER STALKER. HERE'S TO WELL-CRAFTED HOMAGES. ♥

-Haha I totally thought John was being carted off to see Moriarty, too!

-Nonononono, honey, I think you've missed the point of that scene with John and Irene. Because he says, "We're not a couple," he says, "I'm not gay." And then she says, "Well, I am. But here we are.." [paraphrasing] It's about the fluidity and changeability of sexual identity and the inadequacy of labels, because John is "straight" and Irene is "gay" and they both love Sherlock anyway. That scene made me so so fucking happy, because a) I can totally relate, and b) I do read John as straight, but this is like having our cake and eating it too, because I suppose you could argue that Irene isn't John, she can't tell him what he feels, but come on now, she's a very smart lady, what this is is canon confirmation that JOHN LOVES SHERLOCK.

-HOLMES BROTHERS IN THIS EPISODE, OH MY GOD. TT_TT ...Mycroft was so amazing in this, MORE HEARTS FOR GATISS, FETCH ANOTHER BOX.

-IT'S AN OT3 NOW. JUST ACCEPT IT.

-Poor Molly. Sherlock is quite frequently a bag of dicks, and he was ghastly in that scene... but I was so, so proud of him, too. Because when he realized what he'd done he honestly regretted it, and he apologized as best he could, and meant it. AND THAT IS SO HUGE FOR HIM. I mean, Jesus, Sherlock apologizing? Sherlock caring? Look at John, he was as surprised as I was! SHERLOCK, YOU'VE COME SO FAR, YOU'RE DOING SO WELL. ♥

-I kind of wanted to ship Molly and Lestrade, too. Forgot he had a wife until he mentioned her.

-THE BOYS AND MRS. HUDSON, OH MY GOD, ALL OF THE HEARTS IN ALL OF THE BOXES. TT_TT

Haha, yeah, thanks. That'll teach me not to check my posts over. XD

- Andrew Scott is pretty much a genius, yes. Augh, Moriarty! *creeped out all over again* Not many people could pull off shouting down a phone one second and 'I will skin you' in a completely calm tone of voice the next without it being silly. And he does. And I could fangirl about this all day.

- 'The Speckled Blond' was great - but I'm also kind of sad that we won't get a full episode based on 'The Speckled Band' (which is one of my favourites by dint of being the first Holmes story I read). But the title makes up for it. (As does John's blog post about the case.) I AM ALL OVER THE WELL-CRAFTED HOMAGES. <3 <3 <3

- Oh, good, not just me. :)

- Yeah, about two minutes after I finished this post (and was on my way to bed), I found a comment somewhere saying basically what you just said there and had a facepalm moment. :D Yay for having our cake and eating it, too! \o/

- Yeah, definitely more hearts for Gatiss.

- XD It really is, isn't it?

- I must admit, I agree with you, there. This time last series, he wouldn't have even apologied, would he? It's nice to see him evolving into ... well, still a bag of dicks, but at least one who can see when he's said/done the wrong thing. I wasn't expecting him to apologise, and it was lovely that he did. And ironic that for all that he spends this episode pretending not to care - about Irene, mainly, but about anything as well - this fairly early scene shows that he does care now. (As do a couple of others, but this comment is long anyway so I won't blather on.)

- I didn't even know he had a wife. XD

- Yes, this. ALL OF THE HEARTS, EVER. Their relationship with Mrs Hudson is, like, 60% of what was awesome about this episode, for me.
