A Video And An(other) Icon Meme

Aug 31, 2011 15:15

Today, I finished my Nineteenth Century Children's Literature essay. 8,400 words, 7 texts, 4 articles, 4 books of criticism, and God-knows-how-many hours of staring into my computer screen. And it is wonderfully, gloriously done. I posted and e-submitted at lunchtime. The last piece of work for my MA is now out of my hands.

So now I have time for fun things! Like the Sims and watching films and TV and seeing my friends and eating raspberry turnovers with my Mum!

To spread the joy around, I'm going to link you to an awesome video I came across via zolac_no_miko. If you like films and/or clever editing, you'll enjoy Filmography 2010.

I have never done that before. I hope it worked. :/

Now, a meme.

I volunteered myself for this at zolac_no_miko's journal because it looked like fun. :)

The rules:

1. Reply to this post with "LICK ME" (or any other explicit form of consent), and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

Here are the ones zolac_no_miko picked for me.

I honestly don't remember where I found this icon. I think I got it from lady_leonida, who possibly got it from a free/creditless icons comm. here on LJ. I'm unsure. (If you know who to credit it to, by any chance, please do tell me.) I like it mostly because it reminds me of Crowley from Good Omens, who I think is a cute little minion of evil. :P Also, I like it when religion isn't taken seriously. Mosty, I like that it makes me smile when I look at it.
I definitely don't use this one often enough.

Haha, this one! I hardly ever use it, but I could never be without it. Once, at a sleepover, Ice_Elf pulled out a punnet of strawberries and announced their presence. I have no idea why, buy I came out with, "Strawberries? Real live strawberries? That're actually dead?" (I was misquoted on the icon! :P) To this day, I can't say what made me come up with that, but it made us laugh at the time and it still makes me chuckle now. (The 'quote' remains my email signature, too. *lame*)

First off: David Tennant and a kitten. What more could you want in an icon?! Lookathowadorabletheyare! ^^ But then, he had the kitten on his shoulder and I was in a piratey mood, and I saw an opportunity to jam two of my favourite things - Pirates and Doctor Who - together. So I added the text: Real Spacepirates Have Kittens. (As opposed to the more usual parrots or monkeys. You know.)

I made this as an entry to fmadesignawards. I used to enter quite frequently, but not so much any more. I just felt like it when, back in 2009 oh man seriously it was that long ago?! I saw that Week 120's theme was Automail. I didn't win, but I really liked the way the icon turned out. So now it's mine. My precious. I'm not sure now where I got the text, whether it was a quote or I made it up. (I think I made it up?) But I like the way it sounds, anyway. Even though Ed's smiling there, it still feels like quite a sad icon to me; I think the clockwork people are a bit broken. :(

Haaaa, this icon is like a massive in-joke only I understand. <3 The image is of John Simm in Life on Mars. The icon was inspired by severa's Slasher's Guide - well worth a read if you're a fan of the show. In particular it was the Slasher's Guide to S2E2, in which there is this image - link - with the simple caption, "This is not a heterosexual man."
And so this icon was born. I found that once you enhance the colours a bit, that shirt he's wearing wasn't exactly proving the statement wrong. :P As well as the pretty pink boxes running down the right hand side of the image, there's teeny unreadable text which says, in capitals, "This is not a heterosexual man." No one knows but me (and you, now). I am unreasonably amused every time I use it (which sadly is not often).

And that's that! Thank you, zolac_no_miko, for picking icons I could ramble about quite easily. :)

That';s about it for now. I might be back later or tomorrow with some Star Trek fanfic. (Yeah, revisiting old fandoms and old, unfinished fics now. It's fun! Except when I come to the end and realise why I didn't finish it before: because I had no idea what to do next.)
