This is my last post as a twenty-one-year-old. Which is a pretty scary concept, if I'm honest. Twenty-two sounds so much more grown-up, like I have to stop binge drinking and going to wild parties and coming home at two in the morning and - oh, wait. I never did any of that stuff anyway. :P

Seriously, though, I don't want to be twenty-two. Over the past week or so, I've succumbed to the most serious bout of age-related anxiety I've ever had, and it's been scary. (I know, suck it up, it's only going to get worse.) I'm trying to put my "OMGWTFamIdoingwithmylife, it'sslippingthroughmyfinger, helphelphelp!" aside, though, and I want no sympathy because, honestly, twenty-two is not old. I need to stop freaking out.

Anyway. This year has been simultaneously one of the best and the absolute worst.

What made it the worst? My Nan died. I still can't believe she's gone; I still don't really want to. It'll be hard not having her here tomorrow. The cyst in my jaw and the pain and frustration it cased over Christmas and since. (I do need a root canal. The hospital are refusing to do it. Bastards.)

What made it the best? The Eleventy-First Birthday Party (for my 21st and my Nan's 90th - add up the numbers and you get 101, eleventy-one, the same age a Bilbo Baggins at the start of Lord of the Rings and the same age he chose for his huge birthday party! No, that will never stop being epically cool in my mind.). The London Trip with saffy_Cat, especially Dara O'Briain live and feeding the squirrels in the park out of our hands. Graduating from Durham University with a BA (Hons) in English Literature. Taking my Mum for Afternoon Tea at the Midland Hotel, Manchester, as a Christmas present. The small family party at my Uncle Merv's house, at which my Nan was the happiest she's been in a long, long time because she was surrounded by people; and seeing her face light up while she was there. Starting (and enjoying) an MA in Writing at Warwick (which is one of the best things I've ever chosen to do). Some truly excellent films (including by not limited to Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Rango, Paul, and Inception.) The trip to Portsmouth to visit Ice_Elf. Meeting new friends who are as perverted as my old ones. :P Starting to re-read the Harry Potter series and rekindling my utter adoration for that world. Fantastic Christmas meal with Ice_Elf, Scripteens, siraplowe, Sam and Chris. Getting my Mum back in the past two months. John Barrowman live, twice. Sitting the last exam I will ever have to sit in my life. An absolutely epic fic collaboration with , followed by an equally epic NaNoWriMo collaboration - both of which were hugely successful. Some of the best episodes of television (Doctor Who, Glee, Sherlock, Silk, Hustle to name but a very few) every aired.

And those are just the things I remember/posted on LJ about. As you can clearly see - the good far outweighs the bad in many ways.

Let's hope - as always - that the next year is an even better one than the last. :)
