Doctor Who on Sale & Life Update

Mar 06, 2010 18:44

HMV is currently having a sale. They have Doctor Who box sets (which normally sell at £70) marked down to £25. Better than half price! So, of course, I couldn't restrain myself. I want the box sets (and have always wanted the box sets, ohmansomuch), but I don't want to pay ridiculously high prices for, essentially, 13 hours of TV that gets repeated ad nauseum infinitum.

I splurged £70 of my Christmas Money on series 2 & 3 and a box set with Waters of Mars and The End of Time two-parter. (OMG, so much Master! Hee~! *fangirl*) Totally worth it. :D

I haven't actually watched them yet, but I intend to have a full-(multi-)series re-watch over Easter. *gleeful bouncing* Between that and Star Trek and I think my head might explode from fandom overload. XD

For now, though, I have to remain grounded in Serious Things. Last night, I stayed up until 7am. First I was finishing the first raw draft of my Dissertation's first chapter (5,000 words; too many, but hell, at least I have words now!*) and then I had to finish the drawings I wanted to do for the DUFAS Exhibition tomorrow. I did it. (Although, I realised later that I'd made a massive gaff. Oh, well; it's fixable. It'll have to be done tomorrow, in between hanging the Exhibition, but it's fixable, I think.)

I slept between 7am and 12:10pm, and then had to throw on clothes and rush out to get to today's DUFAS session (collecting work for the exhibition and generally setting up the room) at 12:30pm. I like cutting things fine. :P

It's been a good day, overall. Some problems (eg: paintings already being on the walls, which we can't take down without permission), but they're not insurmountable. I'm getting an early night tonight (aiming at being in bed between 9pm and 10pm), and then I won't actually die tomorrow while at the Exhibition itself.

Which should be excellent! We have some really good stuff! I'm actually dead excited about it. :D

Also: I've been obsessively listening to the Artemis Fowl audiobooks while working on my art pieces. OMG, they are so hilarious! <3 Seriously, just when I think I can't love Artemis any more, the dear sweet insecure little geniusboy, he does something else that makes me flail with glee. Hee~! Artemis Fowl & The Time Paradox is still my favourite, I think. (Easter will call for a full-on Series Re-Read, I think. Prepare yourself for much squee, flist, because there will be plenty. :P)

* At my lecture yesterday, we were comparing wordcounts. Everybody else is sitting comfortably between 6,000+/8,000 words and a finished Dissertation. I said, "I have 2,500-ish." Everyone stared at me like I'd just said, "I'm going to kill myself and everyone I love tomorrow." Well. Maybe not quite like I'd said that, but the horror was evident. I've never felt so doomed.
