Your moment of Zen: The Cosmos?! Why should I wonder about what's out there? I'm still trying to figure out what they mean by a "silver lining." ~Overheard in Chili's
Like I've already said, things are going well for me. Back in the early bit of the month Alie and I hit a speed bump that I didn't anticipate the result in our relationship almost bottoming out. We definitely had to take a moment so that we together could figure out how to continue in our relationship, but as scary as the pause was it certainly caused for our relationship to be stronger. We are talking more and better about our feelings and our needs, which was really what the whole problem started out as. Not to mention that we are spending more time away from each other. It's not because we are hurting so badly that we can't stand each other, this is not the case, no it's because up until our moment we were spending almost every night together. We were wanting something that is impractical at the current time in our lives--we forced it--and it almost destroyed us. So we're taking it easy, and figuring out how to proceed while not dulling down our emotions. So, of course, balance is essential in a relationship. Now that I'm done stating the obvious, I'm going to move onto more interesting things.
This next subject is based off of my refrigerator. Lyni added to our fridge some magnetic poetry. The first poem I wrote with her pieces was "Liquid language elaborates on love after power and dress please no men." It's silly, and a sketch. It means hardly anything but there is a kernel of truth to that. Some people put language on this pedestal making it concrete and rigid. English professors come to mind. But others also see language as dirty. These dirty authors use the filth of it all to cause shock onto the reader, but shock only goes so far until the filth becomes the water necessary for life. However I see language differently from these examples. I believe that language is capable of fitting into whatever container is needed. This welds great power, and it is essential in any way of life.
In today's day and age language is changing. It's been changing for some time now. George Carlin has been observing this change for near 50 years. Jack Kerouac, Ginsburg, and Ferlinghetti have been pushing the change. They all work language in their own way, but I suggest that we explore and figure out how language can be changed and manipulated. I know that this is my basic concept when writing, but I've done it for the past three years in the focus of identity. I want to focus on how words can make and change concepts. Not just elaborate words, but also the basic words that create the everyday ideas of our society. The blueprint beyond this is a bit rough and will require a bit more thought than what I'm capable of at 10:30 at night.
Well, I'm off to bed. I think I'm done with this update. If you have any questions, just comment. I'll be sure to give a wise-ass remark.
Peace!
