I head speakers yesterday talk about oil addictions.
Ben Namakin and Omoyele Sowore. Ben is a micronesian environmental educator. He talked about rising sea level due to globaql warming and how the US delegates acted at a Montreal connference on global warming. the US is the biggest polluter so we should care the most, not the least.
Omoyele talked about oil and human rights abuses in his birth country, Nigeria. He told us that if we buy oil we are supporting the corporations who support harsh military rule. we're killing people so we can drive cars. we can live wilthout or with much less oil, but the world can't live with it. we're enslaved in America, not by force but by distraction, we go home and watch TV and forget about were the oil that took us home came from. what happened to the protest generation of the 60s, why are Americans so complacient now?
