the den.

Not only did we acquire the new Rent soundtrack tonight, courtesy of Gina from down the hall, but B216 has also finally realized the rearranging dreams of late, with the tv now occupying the corner formerly known as the kitchen and the kitchen making a bold shift a few feet to the right, a more accessible location for the fridge especially. further developments include the addition of curtains (ingeniusly made out of jack's extra sheets), as well as stylish lighting on the loft in the form of kirsten's unused christmas lights and my own fuzzball lamp. the two target dish chairs have been retired to their folded form and stashed in corners for use only when extra seating is required, with kirsten's corduroy papasan becoming a fixture by the window until final plans for the den/breakfast nook/fort go through--we want mattresses. dan star's recommendation of a double mattress layout seems to be the best option, and as soon as dani will unlock the storage closet, we will enact this idea. my old desk chair has finally left the room, but has taken temporary residence as our porch in the hallway since dani was unavailable for storage-closet-unlocking. we are pleased with the addition of another room, however transitional the setup may be. snowflakes complete our new decor, as will (hopefully) the removal of the unsightly plastic and glass bottles which have accumulated in various receptacles over the semester, now consolidated into a pile near the dresser. B216 and friends are quite excited with the changes we saw today, and hope to capitalize on the new layout by taking advantage of the den for study as well as actually using the television, perhaps for watching the news over cereal. visitors are welcome as always in B216, and with the new setup, there is even the option of creating a guest room with a window view for overnighters. that's all for now--we have breakfast scheduled for just after seven tomorrow morning, so i'm going to try to get my four hours of sleep.
