So it rained on and off for most of the day today ... we've arrived in Woodend, where I'm hopefully catching up with sister Fiona and her b/f Grub in a couple of hours for a pot or two. I haven't spent much time with mother, which is working out for the best part - I have no-one to complain to (except for my loyal readers!) and she has no-one to fuss over. She did hook me up with some Ventolin (Asmol really - *cough*) which was rather sweet of her. The tent I borrowed from Fi is shaped like a coffin and functions similarly - it's been quite close in there, and with the dusty campsites the first few nights it was a bit of a struggle.
For anyone who wants to follow the route, there's some info
here, which I just had to look up because I can't remember where I was last night. Just from exhaustion I'm afraid, and the boring kind at that. There was lots of ups and downs today, and it was wet, have I mentioned that ... I haven't really been chasing the girlies like I've been told to by a couple of you -- although I did just have a nice chat with a 'professional knitter' from Melbourne who's done her knee twice and is going home tomorrow.
My riding companion is a guy from Brunswick I met at Critical Mass - Rick Berry - who's been living in Australia for a while but is from Boston originally. It's kind of funny spending so much time on the ride and in camp with someone you've only just met, but that's kind of how it works on the Ride ... my mood's been kind of flat in general but I'm starting to 'get it', if you know what I mean. As if it's a joke someone's told me and it's gradually sinking in. I think. That'll do for the moment. Thanks again for the texts and I'll see you in town.
