Well, I got there at five to eight, this combined with the fact that I attended that interview yesterday represents something of a personal achievement, such as it is. Ate their food, drank their coffee, and kept silent, as did most of the other candidates, when the fab offer of call centre work for Telstra in Burwood popped up. Most of the people there were from OS - a kiwi, three poms, two irish, and two other Australians. We were still twiddling our thumbs at nine thirty so they let us go. The end.
Ever hopeful, we were asked to 'keep our phones switched on' should something pop up during the day. How is it these people can advertise clerical / admin / temp / data entry positions with seek.com, keep us around for the morning, and then say 'oh, sorry, nothing today' except for call centre work. I mean I know they're doing it a little differently, ringing around potential clients, not waiting to be called, I can see that's a smarter way of doing it, not waiting to be called by someone who needs a temp.
Never mind, I went down to
ACMI and took in the free
white noise exhibition, which was a nice counterpoint to the earlier kafkaesque 'yes we have no jobs' goings on. I really enjoyed
aguas vivas, it made me wonder what someone or something extra-dimensional might look like. (Thankyou Grant Morrison ;)
This isn't meant to be a whinge, I guess I'm just informing those of you who want to see me rehabilitated into polite society ... that I gave, ooh, about 50% today. Maybe I'll give more tomorrow. But most probably I won't.
