Summer Sunset |prologue|

Jun 25, 2010 16:12

What seems to be a cry of a baby resonated throughout the Jung’s mansion.

“NO WAY UMMA !!!”

Yunho threw a fit at his parents. He already had plans for the summer with his friends, and working on a farm is far, far FAR from what he had in mind.

“You're going to our farm this summer and that’s it !”

The woman of the house spoke with an authority that set Yunho back to his seat.

“But appa...”

He tried getting the side of his father, which he always does. He batted his eyelashes and used his doe-like puppy dog eyes , trying to get some food. It always worked on his dad, but not this time, when he needed it the most. Instead, all he got was a sad stare. Making him more scared than he already was at his mom.

He knew there was no turning back. He withheld his frustration and tried reasoning calmly to his parents. Having the littlest of hope in his mind.

“Me and the boys are planning to go to Jeju Island with Tiff and her friends! Why are you sending me to Jeolado?? And on our final year ?? WHY umma !!”

“Then bring them there too! And stop wasting your time like some reckless juvenile delinquents! You’re already grown men for heaven’s sake!”

His mother was getting as perturbed as he was. Their only son, the only heir to their food processing company; the biggest of their metropolitan, was maturing at such a slow pace she’s worried if he’d be able to handle the company they have kept in their generation for so long, until it was too late.

“Son, do this for us please? We’ve never asked you of anything but to handle this company the best way possible. And now that you have graduated, this is the right time for you to learn the basics. Starting with our farm...”

His father finally spoke with pleading eyes.

“Jung Yunho, you are going to our farm in Jeolado. And that’s final. Now, pack your things and settle your plans with Junsu.”

His mother placed her hands on his shoulders, with a tight grip.

“AAAhh..Aish..Ok..OK..”

Yunho winced at his mother’s grip.  He rubbed his shoulders and frowned at his mother. Who knew such strength came from a beautiful and seemingly delicate lady?

“That’s my boy.”

His mother said victoriously while clapping her hands.

Yunho stomped his way to his room. He was about to bang his door when his mother shouted from downstairs.

“Oh don’t you even DARE, banging that door on me young man! Or else it’s your head that’s going to get some banging”

As a result, he slowly closed his door and ran to his bed to take out all his frustrations.

“What the hell !!”

He flipped his phone open and sent a text to his friends to disclose them with the same despair of a bad news.

“Got some change of plans

Bout Jeju,C u at the clubhouse

After 10 mins.”

I should not go through to this alone.

He thought as he put on a jacket, cap, and shades. He headed down from his room and took a drive to their usual spot. It’s a good thing all of them live around the same neighbourhood that it was convenient for them to meet up at such a short notice. When he arrived at the clubhouse, Hankyung was already there.
“What’s up Ho ?”
Hankyung asked while he was sitting on their couch. The sleepiness in his was eyes still evident.

“Let’s wait for them first.”

Yunho grabbed a beer from the ref and handed Hankyung a bottle as he sat beside him.

Minutes after, Yoochun arrived wearing only a coat covering his pajamas. Changmin followed shortly after then Junsu.

“Oh this better be good you retard. You woke me up damn it.”

Yoochun cursed Yunho while adjusting the ropes of his robes. Changmin just sat down, his eyes still closed.

“Well...I don’t know if this is good but...”

Yunho took a few breaths before breaking the news.

“I won’t be able to go to Jeju with you.”

He said while looking down, waiting for the outburst to occur.

Silence and then..

“WHATT ??”

The sleepy Changmin moments ago, was now fully awake

“How the hell are you not coming??”

“You were the one who planned this bastard!”

“What about our plans with the girls !?”

The rest shouted at the same time, threatening the silence of their neighbourhood.

Yunho knew this was coming. He raised his arms and signalled for them to calm down and let him explain.

“Guys! Listen first! It’s because my parents would send me to our farm in Jeolado to learn the basics for our company!”

Yunho tried to make them understand.

“What do we do now ?”

After the outburst has subsided, Hankyung calmly asked.

“You know we can’t go without you.”

Junsu tried to find a solution.

After a few minutes of thinking, Changmin thought of an idea.

“The way I see it, we have two choices.”

Changmin stood up from his seat.

“It’s either we go without you”

“Which we can’t”

Junsu added.

“YES. You already said that SU.”

Changmin raised his eyebrow at Junsu for interrupting.

“As I was saying, we go without you or...we go with you!”

Changmin clasped his hands, praising his self for his genius.

“I know right? I amaze myself sometimes too”

He remarked proudly as the rest stared at him in disbelief.

“US ?? In a farm ?? Working ??”

Junsu had his eyes widened at the thought of shedding some sweat. Living a life, where their future was served on a silver platter. The idea of working for themselves scared the hell out of them.

“Well any of you got any ideas ?”

Changmin asked them while taking a seat.

“Think of it guys, this could be like the survivor of fear factor or something!  This could be the most interesting and exciting summer we can ever have!”

Yunho tried convincing his friends.

“Well, I’m in as long as all of us are there.”

Hankyung finally agreed, looking at his friend’s faces.

“What do you think Su ?”

All of them turned their eyes on Junsu who was obviously having the most difficult time to decide.

“What the heck! I’m in! You sick bastards of a friend!”

All of them stood up as they put their hands in for the new adventure that awaits them.

“Why do I feel like this summer would be something special?”

Yunho said as they were walking home.

“Well, this better be Jung.”

Yoochun replied with a certain confidence on his tone.

The five separated as they made preparations for their summer vacation. Not knowing that this vacation, will be far more than special than any one of them thought that it would be.

Somewhere in Jeolado province...

“Yobo-seyo?

“This is Mrs. Jung...Our Yunho will be coming there this summer with his friends. I hope you can teach him the ropes around there. Araso ?  ”

“He will be there the next day. Kamsamida! Annyeong!”

“Araso madam. Annyeong...”

A young boy dressed down on his sleeveless shirt and ripped jeans put down the phone. The marks of a day’s work stained his beautiful face.

“Yunho-sshi? Yunho-sshi is coming back?”
