Poor Steve and Danny.

There's definitely more in my head, but I'll have to see if it shapes into something - I may be baring too much of my soul here if I actually write more about the pregnancy...!

Oh crap, I need more of this. :( The bit at the end with Steve knowing what it means to Danny was really heartbreaking.

Apparently it's scientifically proven that fathers react differently to babies (even ones not their own) than guys who've never had a kid. (Women pretty much all react the same, they claim, although I'm sure that I'd have reacted much more like a guy before I had my own babies.)

It's quite tempting to write what happens after the baby arrives and Steve finally gets what Danny's been goofy about all along... but in a very snarky Steve and Danny sort of way, of course...

Wow. You've done a brilliant job here. You're so right; finding out you're pregnant isn't all unicorns and rainbows. I've no personal experience to draw from, but hell, I saw my sister when it finally hit her. She hyperventilated so hard she almost passed out. And then we had the whole 'coffee and alcohol' conversation, and man, it packed an even harder punch.

This is lovely, and I would love to read more in this verse, especially as you're keeping it so realistic and keeping to the stark reality. Really great stuff! I especially enjoyed the last paragraph, because god, this has Steve all over.

And can I just say -- you've done the justification really well. Mpreg is not at all my thing, normally -- mostly because I can't stand it when the writer mangles the science behind it, but this? This is excellent. I really hope you feel inspired enough to continue it!

Yes, well, I stood there newly and accidentally pregnant and looked at the man I loved and realised that I couldn't have one without the other - it was the baby and him, or neither. So I get how that one works! (Although I have to say that the infant in question turned out to be an accident but not a mistake, thank God!).

The science is usually a problem for me with mpreg (along with the fact that many writers turn the guys into complete girls as soon as a baby comes along). Here I had to hand wave a bit with the witch to get them where I wanted them, but the ectopic implantation and placental attachment stuff has all been seriously discussed by the medical profession with respect to the potential for male pregnancy.

Glad you liked it - I was nervous about it...

*flails* ok, i have the typical love/hate thing with mpreg, you know hate teh "uuuh science?!" part, love the babies part. Usually my love of babies wins ;)

this time, it took the cake.

the fact that it's STEVE who's pregnant is awesome, too. *flails*

(for srs, can we get a prequel of how it all happened coz? ngh<3)

*hugs* i do hope there will be more, because this is beautiful and honest and makes my heart do flipflops *HUG* :)

There's more in my head, certainly, but I'll have to see if it shapes up. I'm good right up to three days after the baby's born, at which point the hormones hit and I switch from being Steve to being Danny and go from being distinctly unimpressed by it all to being utterly besotted... *g*

Delighted you enjoyed it, anyway :)

Oh man, the poor boys!

I do like that Danny's the first person Steve thought to call in his panic and good for Danny for being so supportive.

Do you think you are going to continue this?

Ah well, it is Danny's baby - and Danny's just about the only person Steve's close to who has any experience at all with this sort of stuff!

There may be more, there's stuff in my head, certainly, but I didn't expect to be writing this at all, it came a bit out of left field, so I'll have to see what happens.
