Uncheck the let iTunes automatically manage your music option that usually solves it

Where exactly is that magical option located? Having issues finding it D: (and thank you btw)

preferences > advanced > uncheck Keep itunes music folder organised. :)

Doesn't seem to make a difference, even when restarting iTunes. Something else I need to do for it to take effect?

whoops read what you wanted wrong.

looks like it's a view thing. There's a hidden view called artist by album. That might work.
