Apart from Avenue Q, Rent, and the Lion King, the most *awesome* musical ever.
And guess who has the opportunity to audition for a local community theater in May for this specific musical? Yes, me! Oh, the smell of make up... Costumes in costume bags, backstage goodness, late night rehearsals, dancing and singing all day long... Good god, it's been too long. At least two weeks. Help, I'm getting teary eyed. Oops, one just dropped down my face... I think I might need a moment. *walks off*
Alright. For some of you theater-ly inclined persons, post some good monologues. I don't really want to do a Shakespearean one (how happy o'er some other... Helena, Midsummer Night's Dream) and the only other strong one in my reportoire is a serious one about a girl whose father died in a car accident by a drunk driver. And that requires a chair and some very good sleep-acting. Oh, and the other one is from a Dicken's play. Oh god, I forget it... but that wouldn't be good.
No, I'm looking for something BIG and attention grabbing. I can't sing for anything, but all people who audition get a part. Thus, I have to stun them with my monologue.
How happy o'er some other some can be
through Athens I am thought as fair as she
but what of that?
If Demetrius thinks not so... He will know what all
but he do know
And as he errs, doting
'pon Hermia's eyne;
So I, admiring of his qualities.
Things base and vile
Holding no quanity
Love can transpose to form
and dignity! Err he looked
'pon Hermia's eyne, he
hailed down oaths that he was
only mine. But when this hail
some heat from Hermia he felt
So he dissolved, and showers
of oaths did melt.
I will go tell him of
fair Hermia's flight
and to the woods, tomorrow night
he will pursue her!
And for this intelligence, if I have
Thanks, it is a dear expense.
but here in I mean to enrich my pain
and have his sight thither
and back again.
'Bout a minute is good.
