today jeff is 28. we've been celebrating since saturday ;) and it's been good. so today he went outside to weed-whack, and guess what he found? there was a nest of baby rabbits in the middle of our yard, in an overgrown patch of grass and weeds. 5 of them, and they are so perfect and tiny. not newborns, thank god..their eyes are open, and they are currently huddled together in a wastebasket lined with grass, staying warm. i've put a shallow dish with water in it but so far they've just been pretty still. one woke all the way and way exploring his way around the circumference of the basket, squeaking and hopping erratically. i don't know exactly what to do yet. hopefully their mother will come back for them tonight. we want to watch for her before putting them back out because i'm scared a cat will get them. and there's no protection anymore. i read that they can eat hay and grass and dandelion greens now, and they shouldn't need too much else. is that right? i don't want anything bad to happen to them. they are just perfect. so little, perfect teeny paws and ears folded back..i would keep them but if their mother is out there i've got to put them back.

oh, and i think our house is going into foreclosure.
yay!
