Something that I randomly wrote in my notebook before Bib Theo today: "I shape my world with words in the vain hope that perhaps someone else will also see the dreams and visions that intoxicate my mind." Don't ask me what it means. When my Muse compels me with words I feel out of controll.
Anyway, moving on, things are going far better for me now. Dad really liked Shakespeare Day, so I was very happy about that. All of my papers for the semester are done so besides studying for finals I have no more work to speak of. I did have to pull an all-nighter Monday night to accomplish this, but it was worth it for the feeling of satisfaction at being finished. So yesterday I spent my morning running on the power of Coke and cookies before I got to sleep in the afternoon. Then Christine and I went to see a performance of "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" which was an AMAZING show! It was actually about the first theatrical production of the story and the actor Richard Mansfield who was a suspect in the Jack the Ripper murders because of his frightening portrayal of Mr. Hyde. It was such a great show, all the actors were amazing, but I especially loved the actor who played Richard (as well as having to play Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde) as he brought both a great charisma and also vulnerability and sincerity to the role, and also the actor who played Bram Stoker (the stage manager) who was so creepily funny that I think he almost stole the show. My favorite part of the show was how they managed to bring such psychological complexity to the story by incorporating the theater and the art of acting. The amount of levels going on was a bit frightening as I realized that we were watching a group of actors playing a story in which they are playing actors who are putting on a show about the nature of dual identites. Whoa.
So now I'm finally feeling positive about things. I do hope that I can hang on to this feeling for a while, as my positive moods never seem to last for very long. At least this weekend should be fun as Christine and I invade Aimee's home and see Nunsense together. After these very hectic past two weeks it will be so nice for the three of us to be able to goof off together again.
