the crazy weekend...

My crazy weekend…

Friday!

So, I get up, take care of some email and stuff. Find out there’s NO water. In fact, some weird crap is going on. The utility folks are working all up and down my street. The street is CLOSED off, yet people drive around the closed sign that live here and come in anyway.

So I get a plan: Take a shower at church where I wash my clothes. I remember that the bathroom upstairs says “Men’s Shower” so I figure I’m good. I grab my clothes and my backpack and go to church with my glasses and my cowboy hat on.

As I leave the apartment the utility folks have ALL the hydrants open and spewing down the street. I get to the church and get in, and the college/laundry area is locked. I finally find someone to open it and go take a shower.

After the shower two teens come in from basketball practice next door - Samuel and Peter. Samuel tells me about his life as a missionary in um… an African country with a Z. Tanzania I think. We play foosball. Then we play some PS2. I teach Peter to play Backgammon. Then its time to head home cause I’m going to go see a band at 7pm.

I take Lex and we go see Fey. Fey is his sister’s band. They are playing at a little coffee shop in Wendell. I brought my fangs for fun since its almost halloween. They played my song that I like. I take Lex back and get ready to go out with a girl named Cat.

On the way to pick up Cat I have a car accident. A guy in a VW swerves over into my lane and I try to avoid him. I hit a truck with my left side and he hits my right. I evaded well, only slight scratches on both sides. I call Cat and say I’ll be late, but its all good - the haunted house we are going to is open late.

I pick up Cat and we go to the Haunted Pirate Ship. In line, one of her friends happens to get right behind us. He manages the Raleigh Ren Faire. Cat worked for the faire last year and was trying to get me to. For some reason this faire is very concerned with being “in period” meaning the time period. Too concerned if you ask me, I don’t think I will work it.

We talked to the crazy haunted house bartender guy and Cat says, “Dad? Is that you?” The house was well done, if not scary. I bared my fangs at a few actors for fun.

Then we went to her local hangout bar. Met lots of her friends there. Went back to her house at 2 am and watched the Elvira movie. We stopped by the convenience store on the way home, she said, oh look, there is one peach rose left! I quickly took all the money out of my pocket to buy it. It was $3.42 I think. I had about $3.38 in my pocket. I then remembered back to the car accident, and how a dime dropped out of my pocket while I was getting out my ID when we exchanged information. The BP guy took what I had anyway. It was all good, she was happy.

She fell asleep before the movie ended. She was out. I scooped her out of her recliner and carried her to her bed and took her boots off. Said goodnight. Cat is a cool person, I think.

If you are wondering, I had to let Jenn go. She and her ex are probably getting back together and I realized that and didn’t want to get in the way. I hope she will be happy.

Saturday

You don’t have to read all this you know, it’s just for me to get it all out ;)

Eventually made it to Guitar Center to look for my new electric. Had an idea what I wanted, but played a used guitar that was much better. It is a sweet Washburn. I put my money down on it so they will hold it. Still looking for a drummer. Now I need to get a good amp too. If anyone wants to buy me a Crate tx-120R I won’t stop you. :)

Then it was time to get ready for the halloween party with folks from my church. I put on my Speed Racer costume, which, sadly, no one seemed to recognize (until I told them anyway.) They had an all female version of the Village People there that danced to YMCA. My friend Mandy from Durham happened to be there, randomly. Mandy’s hair is now blue. I tried to talk people into going to the bar Cat hangs out at, because they were having a costume contest. I ended up going by myself… but not until I first got lost in Cary. I sort of did it on purpose to learn my way around better. But, I almost ran out of gas. Of course, I didn’t, it wasn’t my day to I suppose.

I made it to the bar, and no one knew who my costume was either. I met Cat’s friend Ian who works on cars and says “Cat is like a sister to him” and that he will “break my legs” if I hurt her. There are a few good costumes, but it seems some of the winners left by the time I arrived. I sat with Cat. After an hour or so I decided it was time to go. I did something possibly dumb, but I’m going to make a friends only about that, haha, so you’ll see maybe about that.

My evening was horrible after that. I was having I guess what you would call a panic attack over a couple of dumb things that happened. It was partly me being dumb, but I can’t be smart all the time I guess.

Sunday

Yes, that was today.

I got up. I felt sleepy. I went back to bed.

I got up again. Today there was no church service because of a fall festival. I spent the day getting ready for the Christian Goth conference. I practiced the worship songs I’m going to do and wrote most of my message. The end of the message just came to me now, I think. We will see. John came over to work on his resume. Then we played Puzzle Pirates online for a while.

I watched a dumb movie on Spike, “Blood Angels” that Lex recorded since Stargate Atlantis didn’t record for some reason this weekend! Argh! Oddly enough, this was the movie that Lorenzo Llamas was telling me about at DragonCon when I met him again. He had a picture from it at his table there. It wasn’t too bad until the end and then MAN it got bad. Ah well.

So now I’m here writing. I had fun playing the songs today on the guitar. I wanted to spend more time praying and working on stuff but I slept a lot and John was here, but it still worked out. Thankfully I’m tired now. But I’ll put that quick friends post on so you all don’t wonder too much ;)
